DIY – all-natural night-time facial oil

All skin types. Nourishes and regenerates the skin.

Soothe your skin as you sleep with this luxurious, fragrant facial oil. Rich in essential fatty acids, this combination of vegetable oils nourishes and smoothes the skin as you sleep. The blend of essential oils in this recipe has beneficial actions on the skin: skin-regenerating patchouli oil, balancing ylang ylang oil, and soothing orange essential oil.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp pomegranate oil
  • 2 tbsp macadamia seed oil
  • 2 tsp castor oil
  • 3 tbsp jojoba oil
  • 2 drops benzoin tincture
  • 1 drop cypress essential oil
  • 1 drop clary sage essential oil
  • 1 drop patchouli essential oil
  • 1 drop ylang ylang essential oil
  • 1 drop orange essential oil

Pomegranate oil, macadamia seed oil, castor oil and jojoba oil are the base oils in this recipe. However, you can change these oils with other suitable base oils such as almond, hazelnut, apricot or hemp oil. Although coconut has fantastic properties in the skin care I would not use it in the face.

How to make

It makes 100ml. Pour the oils into a bowl. Add the tincture and essential oils, and mix well. Pour the mixture into a sterilized bottle and place a tight-fitting lid or dropper on. Store in the fridge. Keeps for up to 3 months.

How to apply

Apply a few drops to the fingertips and massage into the face and neck, using upward-sweeping motions, avoiding the delicate eye area. Use at night to help nourish your skin while you sleep, especially if your skin is in need of additional moisture.
