DIY all-natural honey and oat scrub for exfoliation

Cleansing. Softening. Soothing.

This honey and oats face scrub is for all skin types and works wonders by boosting the circulation and sloughing off any dead skin cells. This gentle scrub is so easy to make and it leaves the complexion bright and radiant.

Oats have skin soothing, softening, and cleansing properties and their mild action makes them perfect for treating dry or irritated skin.

Honey has been used since ancient times as a moisturizer that also softens, lubricates, soothes, and protects the skin.

Yogurt helps to hydrate and refresh.

Glycerin and essential oils are optional. Glycerin provides your skin with hydration and the scent of essential oils gives the scrub additional flavor.

As always, we should only use the purest ingredients on our skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp oats or oat flour
  • 2 tsp glycerin (optional)
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp natural yogurt
  • 1-2 drops essential oil (optional)

How to make. Extremely easy!

Using mortar and pestle or a stick blender, grind the oats into a fine flour. Easier would be to use oat flour instead of oat flakes. Transfer the oats / pat flour to a small bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Mix all together to a paste. If you do not have essential oils or glycerin, the scrub works equally well.

How to apply

Gently massage the scrub into clean skin with clean fingers, avoiding the eye area. Let it sit about 3 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel and apply an all-natural moisturizer.

Here are some suggestions of essential oils you can use in the homemade facial scrub.

  • Orange – this oil has regenerative properties that can soothe dry, irritated or acne-prone skin.
  • Lavender – effective skin toner, it revitalizes and refreshes, and its antiseptic properties make it a good choce for oily or acne-prone skin.
  • Patchouli – helps skin tissue to regenerate, revitalize aging skin and reduce wrinkles.
  • Chamomile – for comfort and soothing.

I like this scrub: you get the result instantly – your skin feels clean and smooth.
